Visa Types

An airport transit visa (A) allows you to transit through the international zone of Schengen airport without entering the Schengen territory.

A transit visa (B) allows you to transit no more than 5 days through Schengen countries by car, coach or travelling through different airports on your way to another non-Schengen country.

A short stay visa (C) allows you to visit Schengen countries for tourism, family or business visits, up to a maximum of 90 days in given period of 180 days period.

A Long stay visa (D) allows you to stay for more than 3 months e.g Study, work etc.

All applications will be assessed by the Consulate of Switzerland at Mumbai. It may kindly be noted that Switzerland Visa Application Centre, Mumbai is unable to receive and process applications by courier / post; the applications must be submitted and collected either in person or by an authorised representative or a Travel Agent.

Applications accepted at Switzerland Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day in the Embassy and Consulate.
The time required to process Visa Applications is minimum of 5 working days for Mumbai under normal circumstances (excluding day of submission at VFS).
In case a Representative or Travel Agent is coming to collect the passports/documents he/she needs to carry a Photo Id of himself/herself, applicant’s passport photocopy and an authority letter from the applicant.
